Bondage is a wonderful fetish and I've seen some beautiful photos of various forms and positions of bondage and I’m just curious what a few of your favourites are?

Perhaps you can excuse the ignorance, but how would one learn some of the more complex "ties"?

Ow owww my favorite topic! Grin

Knots and rope bondage have been obsessions of mine since childhood. I can remember being around eight or nine, curled up on the Berber carpet in my parent lounge room with the Boy Scout Field book, fascinated by the knot work. Later, I then later progressed, to handbooks for the Navy. While marlinespike seamanship is not necessary for your binder primer, it is as important to know what knot is proper for which occasion as it is to know how to match a purse with shoes.
a working knowledge of rope and knots is a basic bedroom skill one needs not only to develop, but—pardon the expression—master. Mmmmmm, The look in his eye when you whip out a perfect bowline without looking, fumbling, or breaking a nail will show that you have cemented his attention faster than Krazy Glue.  The main thing with rope bondage is to enjoy it. Rope bondage doesn't have to be perfect every time. If you enjoy the process then your already half way there!

Yes you want your ties to look good, but spending 50 years wondering what to do next won’t help you improve. Try things! It’s okay if it fails, you’re learning!
A few small hints: Hands are the first thing to go when in bondage, so be prepared to perform a temporary tie or find some other way to occupy your partner’s hands and tie them last!
Apply constant tension to the rope when tying so that the bondage doesn’t fall apart on you.

Remove your shoes so you can feel your ropes under you. There’s no “one true way” for rope bondage. Be safe and responsible, and have fun doing your own thing. Don’t limit yourself to someone else’s ideas of style or quality. Common woes related to rope bondage are “It takes too long!” and “I don’t know what to do next!” While great ability in any pursuit takes time and practice, greatness isn’t required for to have fun. Remember that you’re tying a thing of beauty and desire..your partner !. Just like the macaroni art you made for your parents back in school, any attempt will be noticed Cheesy  With all of the variations in ropes, bodies, skill, and so forth, it’s to be expected that your bondage won’t look exactly like the example you’ve based it on or the idea in your mind’s eye. Being flexible, relaxing, and enjoying yourself are very useful in getting the most from your explorations!

No way I can just pick one favorite tie Shocked I put sexual bondage into two schools of thought. One is binding your lover simply to capture, immobilize, and have your way with him/her. The second is that bondage is a living human art form, literally bondage for art’s sake. Even if you are just into bow-tying your partner, you want to look like you know what you are doing. At the risk of sounding like some corseted insurance agent, two concepts reign supreme in the restraint of one’s submissive: safety and security.

When considering a new bondage opportunity, I carefully assess what kind of statement my choice of bonds will make. Will this be a basic training session? An elaborate fantasy scene? Should my submissive feel cherished or humiliated? Does the slave consider bondage punishment or a special treat? What time of day or night will we be playing? Are there seasonal or special personal symbolic themes that can be incorporated? so see how can I pick just one fav tie Cheesy

Most of the common ties you can teach yourself if you take into account the safety aspects as I mentioned above. I personally enjoy learning one on one from kinky friends. If you haven't got that advantage, there some wonderful free video and picture resources around from the simplest functional binds to the more elaborate Shibari.

My friend Ranai has a really good resource list of those starting out, you can find it  "HERE on Ranais short list" just scroll down to bondage.

I also have a few free videos tutorials listed HERE on my site CollarNcuffs

One of the common laments I hear surrounding rope bondage is “I don’t know any knots.” The bad news is that it can be difficult to tie without knots LOL  but the good news is that very few knots are required for effective bondage..but Shh I didn't say that !
three knots will get you very far and you probably know a few of them! Square knot, overhand knot, larks head if you master these first the rest will fall into place for the more advanced.

Have fun! Enjoy!
